High Art on the Farm

Farmer Jeff and I spent some time this weekend working on the yard. In doing so, we found ourselves creating "Farm Art". What does "Farm Art" look like?

Here is a rough idea: Take T-posts, place them in such a fashion as to create triangular shapes, take everyday materials such as binder clips and greenhouse plastic and then ...wrap trees! Not just any trees, but citrus trees!!! Do you think this is ground breaking work? I wonder if we could qualify for a grant.

The end project looks like this:
Okay...we might not have started off trying to create an homage to Cristo, but we ended up creating some pretty solid protection from frost for our 5 citrus trees! Before we wrapped our Meyer lemon tree, we picked all of the fruit. It is SO pretty.

Tonight was the first night the new kids/pullets/little girls put themselves to bed without any help from us. I am so pleased. It makes life much easier on us. As you can see from the picture, they still love to hang out together. Girls Club!

Though I'm sure you have one, here is my favorite lemonade recipe for our Improved Meyers, which won't stop bearing fruit (hubby's really broken up over that let me tell you lol).

In a saucepan boil 2 cups of water with 2 cups (or slightly less if you want less sweet) of sugar, until the sugar is completely melted, let cool.

Mix in a container with 2 cups cold water and 2 cups of lemon juice.

Watch husband inhale entire contents in less than a day.

Enjoy.

Love the dogs running in the foreground of the pic.

The lemons look wonderful and I am glad to find the lemonade recipe here too. I love the chickens. We use to have so many chickens and I miss them now. Miss the fresh eggs also. Great site. Makes me want chickens again. Now, where did I put those chicken catalogs?

Oh, those lemons are so pretty - I've never had a fresh one right off the tree - I'm sure they taste very different from the ones we get in the stores here.

Loved your story of forgiveness - it is amazing that some animals will forgive, and some won't - Sinda hissed at Neelix 12 years ago when we brought him home and now that he is twice her size, he doesn't let her forget it LOL -

I also loved your big basket of beautiful eggs - we only have three chickens left, and they probably won't start laying again until Feb. - but we get 1 or 2 eggs a day, which is darn good for 6 year old hens, don't you think?

Enjoyed your blog. T.

I don't think I have ever seen such perfect lemons - the color just jumps out at me on the screen. Maybe you could send one to each of your favorite bloggers (i.e., the ones who have told you how pretty they are)? ha ha. Your brown dog looks like he's carrying a small log in his mouth - do you have to throw that for him? :-)
