A really good way I've found to limit mess and make it easier on the chicks is to actually put the eggs in egg cartons (cardboard ones that have had the bottoms cut out to let the eggs breathe more) instead of placing them on the screen. It makes it a lot easier for the later chicks to hatch out -- the fluffy ones can't roll them around and mess up the process this way -- and most of the eggshell mess stays in the egg cartons! It's also easier to adjust the humidity through the straw/hole technique when they're in cartons... less likely to drip down on top of an egg! Just my 2 cents. Can't wait to see your babies!
